The SHEROES Summer Outdoors programme 2024

The SHEROES is a safe space for Muslim inner city girls to explore their own sense of identity and belonging in community while connecting with nature. Formed in 2017, in connection to a creative heritage project around the First World War, the group has developed and grown to cater for the diverse needs and adventurous spirits of the girls who have moved through the programme, growing in confidence and skills.

From regular trips and visits out to wildlife trust, national parks, forests and beaches, art galleries and museums, the SHEROES have watched birds, identified dragonflies and bees, gathered wildflowers and stories, recording their responses, walking and learning as we go.

Now in 2024, the SHEROES have the opportunity to learn new skills and experience, enjoying new opportunities as part of the Feel the Green: Reconnecting with Nature Programme funded by National Heritage Lottery Funding and in partnership with Forestry England.
